It offers enough space for artists from a wide variety of musical genres. Musikbox, designed by Zimmererarchitekten, was implemented together with Johannes Eck, Head of Planning at Pletschacher Projects. It was built with CLTPLUS wall and ceiling elements.
There are 52 band and music rehearsal rooms on four floors on a usable area of 2,144 square metres. The top floor, on the other hand, is used as office space for the creative industries. A lounge and a multifunctional room are located on the ground floor. An absolute design highlight is the loggia. Spread over two floors and in the form of a funnel-shaped loudspeaker, it serves as a stage at the Gasworks as well as a meeting place for artists, where they can exchange ideas and play music together.
This new building incorporates wood as a building material in a very special way. The climate-friendly 5-storey timber building was erected in just nine months thanks to a high degree of prefabrication. As well as from the floor slab and the stairwell, made of prefabricated concrete elements, Musikbox was built from 425 cubic metres of load-bearing CLTPLUS wall and ceiling elements in Industrial Quality. Insulated timber frame construction elements were used for the outer walls.
