DEME, the world-leading marine engineering company in Belgium, active in dredging, marine infrastructure and the offshore energy market, has constructed a new administration building for its employees.
The architects' office Polo Architekten designed a hybrid office building for its client DEME. The upper floor, walls, ceilings and roof are built with CLTPLUS solid wood elements. LTS Laminated Timber Solutions was behind the design of the structural timber construction and its execution. For our part, 15 fully loaded trucks left THEURL’s Steinfeld factory between June 2022 and November 2022. A total of 730 m³ of CLTPLUS wall and ceiling elements in Industrial Plus quality were installed. The big challenge in this project was the joinery work, as this was complex due to the front side processing. It was sometimes necessary to use the maximum processing depth of the joinery machines for the slots and flakes. A total of 2,500 precise drilling processes were required for this project.
