With the completion of the Laxenburg Educational Campus, the market town in the district of Mödling in Lower Austria was able to successfully complete its largest construction project to date. Planned by Koup Architects, THEURL was also able to collaborate in this forward-looking concept with two deliveries of glulam and 11 loads of CLTPLUS.
In addition to a kindergarten with a crèche and an elementary school including after-school care, the newly created educational campus also includes a public library and music school as well as a sports hall that is used jointly by the school and clubs. In doing so, the market town of Laxenburg has created an inviting meeting place for all generations from small children to seniors, in line with the Scandinavian way of thinking.
The architecture of the pioneering educational institution not only meets the current educational requirements, the holistic concept in solid wood construction is also particularly sustainable. In this context, THEURL was allowed to supply walls and ceilings. However, the joinery turned out to be extremely complex due to factory joinery work for inclines and because of the connections to the steel girders. Thanks to appropriate advance planning, logistical challenges and the tight delivery period could be overcome effortlessly.
