A deep blue lake at an altitude of 1,165 m surrounded by mountains – Lake Vilsalpsee is one of the most beautiful destinations for a trip in the Tannheimer Tal valley. This is precisely why a polygonal building was dynamically positioned and gives this special place a new identity. Which construction material could be used as solid wood for this project? The structural timber construction was realised with CLTPLUS cross-laminated board wall and ceiling elements, ensuring rapid construction progress.
The building exudes naturalness in an innovative style and provides a feeling of security. The clear separation of the functional areas ensures a smooth and efficient flow. The restaurant and the kiosk, with the necessary adjacent rooms, are organised on the ground floor and the private living and recreation rooms on the upper floor. The guest area with the large glazed areas facing towards the lake offers probably one of the most beautiful views over the lake.
A total of 200 m³ of industrial quality CLTPLUS wall and ceiling elements were used for this construction. The challenge was with the joinery due to the many different board thicknesses and the numerous processing operations such as drilling. With regard to logistics planning, it was possible to optimise the load space optimisation (LSO) and load the individual components in the correct sequence.
